If you are of a certain age, and grew up watching tv in Australia, you may remember the Imperial Leather advert with the couple in the bath, in the private jet.

"Tahiti looks like nice... Simon, Tahiti."

The year I turned 40 I decided to treat myself to a really special holiday. I had always remembered this ad, so when it came to choosing a destination, Tahiti seemed like a pretty cool choice. I booked a 10 day cruise around French Polynesia, and then had to look at a map to work out how to get there!

In Feb/March 2011 I travelled to Tahiti via New Zealand and the Cook Islands, and had the best five weeks of my life.  Five years later and that once-in-a-lifetime-never-to-be-repeated holiday, has in fact been repeated three times. 

Travelling alone brings some extra joy, and some extra challenges, so I hope to share what I have seen, the places I've visited and the lessons I've learnt to help you to book your holiday in paradise.
